By October 3, we had 3-4 inches on the ground and it has stayed. We now have about a foot of snow and have been skiing for a month already!
I've been out on skis 3-5 times a week for the past 4 weeks. Per usual, started out wobbly on sketchy snow, but it's slowly gotten better both technique wise and the conditions. I've done mostly skating but have made an effort to get out on classic skis at least once or twice a week. Usually I don't even think about intervals until the first or second week of November but signed up for a weekly training group and we started in with threshold intervals several weeks ago already. I've trained on my own through most of my career (save on year of college skiing and a year or two with an ad hoc training group back in Minnesota, some 12-13 years ago). We'll see how that goes!
Coaching the junior team starts up next week, so we're really into full swing already. So my schedule will look something like this for the winter:
Weekends - long ski and/or race-workout (time trials, intervals, threshold workouts).
During the week - I'll run 3X, and do 3-4 ski workouts.
Coaching - 2-3 days/week.
October, about 7 hr/week; November plans 8-10 hr/week. Decent but nothing huge.
